About:

I joined Special Kids Connect (SKC) in August 2025. I currently serve as a Community Navigator and Family Resource Specialist supporting families in accessing resources, education, and emotional support.

I was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and studied Social Work at the University of Guadalajara before moving to the United States in 2015. I arrived without knowing the language or having a support network, and that experience shaped my commitment to service and strengthened my dedication to the community.

Before joining SKC, I worked for Mujeres en Acción, where I coordinated programs and led teams of up to 10 community promoters. I facilitated support groups focused on economic self-sufficiency and community leadership, helping participants actively engage in public life. My work also included outreach and educational presentations in collaboration with organizations such as Listos California, CERV, Breathe California, and Bright Futures. I also partnered with COPA to organize civic academies, house meetings, and listening sessions across Monterey County.

I am the mother of two children, and my eldest son has autism. This personal experience has taught me that empathy, knowledge, and action go hand in hand. I believe every family deserves to be seen, supported, and empowered.

What I like best about working at Special Kids Connect:

What I love most about my work is being able to connect culturally with families who are navigating a new country, language, and customs. I enjoy helping them discover available resources, reminding them they are not alone, and supporting them as they gradually empower themselves and transform that knowledge into leadership, building their own support networks. I take great satisfaction in celebrating every achievement, large or small, and in providing a safe space where families can always ask questions and learn.

Fun fact:

I love singing and dancing with my kids. We even have a little karaoke machine at home, so we’re always having mini karaoke parties!
